This is true. As a matter of fact a great many folks don’t sing, just observe, when such music is used. The contemporary songs these days are not really singable or easy to sing as were the early “contemporary” songs. There is no attempt made to teach them to us on the one Sunday ea. mo/ they are used. Apparently my displeasure was obvious, because someone remarked to a member of my family about the expression on my face.  I was  a sour puss, I guess, because I believe in particaptory worship, not entertainment.
